Jim gets old slowly
Here's Jim Hankinson celebrating his birthday in the time honoured fashion - surrounded by friends and drinking to excess :) Though certainly not over the top, as befits his new maturity hahahaha
And here is Jon Landsman. Delighted to finally get to meet him as he's a friend of Bobs (who is in England, alas) and whom I'd heard a lot about. Not only politically but because he was at was at school with Jim H. and Max Johnson - who was too busy globetrotting to be at the party yesterday. Would love to see the three of them together. They told me that Max was in the year above them and was viewed as a god. And still is, of course.
Jim does draw interesting people about him, his parties are subsequently great:) Many thanks to Kat who did the drive to his ridiculously distant hidyhole in Rieux-en-val, up in the very beautiful mountains. Allegedly its between Perpiginan and Carcassonne but it could easily be another planet.

WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THE MAISON DES MEMOIRES in Carcassonne until the current show is over. It consists of drawings by the survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atomic bombs.
The most harrowing show I've ever seen and the images will not leave my memory. If you are drawn to appalling suffering and evidence of mans inhumanity to man, then feel free...
