We did hardly anything to excess and it was a delight to see everyone.
Hot gossip is the revolution at the palace; the mayor George Reverte is being challenged by 6 of his team, who have announced that they will resign en masse if he dosen't become more collaborative. Edith of course resigned on this issue over a year ago - making the numbers sufficient for a proper fight.
Slight sense of deja vu as the last mayor, Jean Torrent, faced exactly the same problem. In Torrents case, the next layer of local goverment took a look and told everyone to go home and try harder, which resulted in the resignation of Bernard Laurens, the mayors deputy - he jumped ship and is now the current mayors' deputy. Though who knows for how much longer.
Msr Ortega was introduced last time and poured oil effectively till election time when Georges took over. Can we expect to see him again, I wonder???
Funnily enough it was our mayor who shaped the meal I served - the figs are abundant and I bumped into Georges while I was wondering what to do with them. He was happy to talk about food and did so with gusto and much fingertip kissing. We ate goats cheese and fig tart - alas, rather overcooked - salad - lentils, carrots and sausages - cheese - raspberries and merangues and cream.
Yet to try the fig, rum and raspberry dessert he likes.
