Fire

 Ian came and got me around 5.00pm to say that the cafe de la gare was burning... indeed it was, fiercely. Since its been empty for an age - absent leaseholder, long story - no-one was inside but a young pompier - pompieuse? was overcome by smoke. She seemed OK after some treatment.

There was a lot of running about and getting hoses sorted. The overall effect was one of great efficiency and impressive control. By the time the big fire engine arrived with the ladder, it was clear the pompiers were winning. Will go back later to check; at the moment the air is very acrid.
