Toby instigated a lunch at the Creperie with our neighbours - here are Louis, 90 in August, Jeanette also 90 and Vincent who is but a boy and youngest at the table - at which were Bob and I and Kat with of course Toby. The creperie was jammed, every seat inside and out taken - chiefly with a large group of walkers ('randonees') who had decided to stop walking in view of the heat.
We are in a canicule, a heat wave - the hottest for ever, it seems. Esperaza is rather pleasant if you stay indoors, we all agreed - the old stone houses hold the heat in winter and keep the cool in summer.
After the siesta - and a meeting of the artists hereabouts * -we went to Louis for more fun, apero for us who had Ian and Phil to dinner but grillade for Tony and Leo and Kat -
One thing is noticeable. Age and good health here do not depend on abstinence.
* ADADE (Association d' Artists d'Esperaza) - is open to all artists practising in this area. There is a facebook page if you are interested...
