Market delights

Market was sunny and full of friends though many stalls were absent, causing confusion and distress among the foreigners. Where are the olives? Where the crab farcie??

Somehow, we cope...

went to the bar and there were Gillie and Alan; he is much recovered and able to participate in village life.

Outside the bar was Ferren. We chattered a deal in the sun about the state-of-the-world. Ferren we all know is mightily distinguished but I hadn't known that he'd worked - peripherally - on a project with James Lovelock (author of the Gaia Hypothesis, pay attention at the back there). Like him, Ferren thinks its all over bar the shouting but we did well by moving to Esperaza, away from the political madness of America and Britain and the more apparent effects of global warming as evinced in Australia.
Ferren must be 90 if he's a day - a decade younger than Lovelock - still firmly in control and dealing with the failing bits with humour and attentive interest. Wants to go to back to Madagascar to check on the lemurs one day.
