Friends to celebrate
Last night we celebrated the return of both Toby and Margaret in the company of Kat and Roland, Mike and Hilary - and Leo showed up late - needless to say, it was a delight. Margaret will be joined by friends in a couple of days while John holds the fort in Ireland
The eagle-eyed will notice our waitress is not Nightingale, who is unwell. All the best to Night and bonne courage to her stand-in (she did well)

I receive a regular email from Christine Belcikowski in which she has a link to an article (often with photos) about the history of the area, historic personages and places.
The email today was the first I have received with a notice of an art opening but of course I thought of you immediately. Of course, given the last name, they are no doubt related somehow.

I first came across her writing when I was trying to find the history of a house on rue du Beal in Mirepoix which was the first house I rented on my first visit to France in 2000. The owners were from Toronto which made handling things much easier. Second year we stayed there also and then for my last trip (retired, no money) in 2010 I stayed there for two weeks to make my goodbyes to all the places I'd come to know and love. My heart is still there which is why I enjoy her blogs (via email) and yours online. One year I rented a house in Couiza so of course I have a warm place in my heart for Esperaza. Should I ever win a lottery you will not doubt come across someone from California exploring all the places you have made memorable. And wanting to see your paintings.
But until then, your writings remind me of what life can be with good friends, good food and the many blessings of just being in the Grand Sud.
and in parting: Screw Brexit and Screw Trump. Where's Moses when we need to be delivered from a plague of locusts who pass themselves off as real people but who are intent on devouring all that is good.
