Viviennes send off -

Oona sent this lovely picture of Vivienne swimming in Corsica - thats her in the flippers - after  the Whistling Arrow ceremony held in her old home. It was a very moving ceremony and a terrific pleasure to meet Viviennes friends and family - her sister Rose is disconcertingly like her:)
It was my good fortune that the ceremony was being held close to where my expo is in London, so it was easy for me to attend and help with the send-off. Vivienne would have LOVED it and very probably did.
Don't yet know when I'II be home. Missing Esperaza and its denizens. Should anyone find themselves in Greenwich (England) on Sunday 22cnd, there'll be a glass of vin de pays d'oc at the Gallery* for the discussion thats on there at 3.00pm. Show comes down on the 28th. If all goes well, so will l....

missing bees and bath

Not much happens in Esperaza so I allowed my camera to go to London in the van with Bob - less hand luggage when I go on fly out on Friday. I was confident that nothing would happen.

Which is why there is no image of a cast iron bath being lovingly removed from a first floor window by a fork-lift truck, from a house on the corner of the square - very surreal, especially as the driver just moved a barrier and closed off the road until he'd finished the job.

Nor is there a pic of our new swarm of bees currently making themselves comfortable in the old chimney of Bobs house. Place is full of them; he couldn't shower before leaving this morning (at 6.am) as they like the bathroom. They also seem to enjoy the cloud of incense I'm maintaining in the hope of discouraging them...

There is not a snap of the moon this morning, just before dawn - a bright sliver of a thing that lit the whole dark globe and highlighted the craters on its face. Looked like a cartoon hallucination.

--I daresay there'll be more missed photo opportunities before the day is over.

In the meantime Bob and Rachel are thundering towards London with a van full of my paintings. Anyone in Blighty on the 12th, please come to my expo at the Greenwich Gallery, Peyton Place, Greenwich at 6pm - in the presence of the Mayor of Greenwich - you'll get a glass of the good ole vin de pays d'oc :) (currently also in the van.)

If you happen to be near Lewes now or in the near future, take a look at Mins stuff here - Unmissable:)

al fresco

Booty from the vide greniers, featuring Best Buy of cupid at 50 cents....   and at Annie and Petes last night.

Annie is admiring the shelf built by Olle-Bendik in between belting about turning out a lovely dinner (Salad, rice, stuffed marrow, crumble - words fail, all bio, all divine) I'm slightly melancholic as the days draw to a close and we all disperse to various countries. Who knows when we meet again, sigh.

three vide grenier sunday

Once in a blue moon you get a couple of vide greniers on the same day. Today - joy!- there were three, at St Jean de Paracol, Couiza and Quillan. Took photos at them all but this of Couiza's buvette is the only one I liked...

Did St J de P and Couiza in a tearing hurry after the market in order to get to Andrees to take her to lunch.

She hadn't eaten at the Poulet en Velo before and was suspicious of the track and eating in a shed in the mountains by a fake lake - dunno why - but the place was full of her old friends and it was a great success.

After a suitable rest, Bob and I raced off to Quillans' vide grenier but they were packing up by then so no luck.
Will post photos of the treasures found at the others as and when:)
