Independence Day

My birthday falls on Independence day and Kat and I celebrated with TWO Panache* in the cafe du Pont, seen here in the baking sunshine. Our tribe was happy and excited as it was the first marche nocturne of the season and the weather was perfect; but just about at the time to go and eat, the storm broke. Sigh.

In the meantime Bobs flight to the UK has been cancelled due to the air traffic controllers strike and he was pulling his hair out, missing appointments and unable to contact Ryan Air. Sigh.
However, my dear friends Ankela and Jon arrived  on the 8.00pm train. We dumped their luggage and went to TyRex where Clare and Fran got bullied into joining  us.
The food and service were excellent - new persons in charge, again.
Despite having to shout over the noise of the rain on the roof, an evening of much conviviality ensued.

Ankela and Jon and I sat under the awning in the rain, talking into the early hours. Lovely :)

*Panache; lemonade with a dribble of beer. Shandy, I guess.

  2. He's sorted now, Gracie - has made the obligatory complaint about Ryain Airs level of customer care which has cheered him up :)
