Found this handsome beastie in one of the little streets and brought it home to the pond - s/he didn't make it through the night. It struck me how few there are this year; then I thought, what's happened to the little scorpions? The bats left us about 4 years ago, hence the rise of mosquitos. But where are the scopes owls, the nightingales, the hoopoes? Or am I getting less observant -
