This apparently innocuous snap - of Max and Andrea, who ate with us last night - marks a momentous time in our action-packed lives.
Because Rico, the unhappy African Grey parrot who we have been nurturing for some months, took his maiden flight!! Probably inspired by Max who might spend more time in the air than on planet, (see/https://www.maxglobetrotter.com/ ) Rico suddenly achieved a vertical take-off, circled the room and flew back to his cage to a round of applause.
His wings hadn't been clipped so much as cut off and we'd been hoping they'd grow back. And now they have and he knew what to do with them, which is a real surprise given that he'd probably never flown in his entire life.
