Yesterday was sunny and hot and we had to go to Carcassonne to get the bit of paper that is missing from my application for the Carte de Sejour. Left home full of foreboding.
Bob drove over the hills so we would miss the Gilets Jaunes. We drove straight to CPAM and parked where Tim had advised us to park. CPAM was not closed but it was empty. A team of young people leaped up to help me. Gave me the necessary paper and sorted some other issues. Amazing... and big thanks to Tim and Gracie who told us what to do. And to the Gilets Jaunes who ensured a minimum attendance; its still possible to find your route blocked for long periods.
Out in five minutes with the Big Thing dealt with. Hysterical with shock and joy.
Thence to the SNCF to collect our geriatric train passes which we'd bought on a special cheap deal and hadn't really expected to work. It did!
Then... bought the canvases I needed that were on special offer!!
Did more stuff, all fun, home to dinner at the creperie with all our chums... here's Pete holding his CdS, already dealt with -
and Mike, John, Kat, Andrea-
and Max and Kat
poor photos of everyone else, Roland, Rose, Nel, Judy and Candy*, our new waitress - sorry -
(* who is shaping up to be a worthy successor to Nightingale and Charlene )
It was my lucky day, evidently. So I bought a scratch card for a fiver. And I won - a fiver :)
Here is a lectern sitting in the porch of the town hall. Gilets Jaunes are encouraged to write their complains in a book there which will be forwarded to the President of the Republic.
