Weds in the Aude valley

Wednesday morning, as we all know, is Quillan market. There we normally find Sue the Book Lady who from her own deep-rooted kindness holds a book exchange by the little fountain. Not yesterday however -a passing Frenchman informed me that she's in England for a week. There remains the British Library which holds English books and lets them out in an agreeably ramshackle fashion for the princely sum of 20 euros a year.

From this you may understand that there are many Brits in Quillan...

Yesterday began foggy and cleared to hot sunshine, beautiful autumn day. Here's a photo of Bob in his garden - gathering leeks (gathering? Picking? Pulling??)

Given the beauty of the day we went to Limoux to shop (Gillets Jeunes still out on the Carcassonne Road) and eventually caught this amazing sunset...
...and found when we got back to Esperaza that the Creperie had re-opened, phew. It was dreadful thinking we'd lost it forever. We haven't; normal opening hours are to be observed, albiet with new staff. Here's himself with his customary Campagnard.
